For my final project, I used a video in which I made for my mom who works for my town. She wanted to create a video to lift the spirits of the residents in the town, but did not know how to make a video. I ended up making the video for her and used various photos of my town as well as some I took on my own. In the video, she wanted to mention and have pictures of several of the small businesses to encourage people to order online or order takeout in order to keep these businesses a float. I ended up adding background music in which I felt was appropriate for this time. The design of the video was not only to lift the spirits of the residents, but to also display a message of coming together through this time of adversity. The only way we can beat the coronavirus is a one big team, so we wanted to incorporate that idea into it. Also, one idea that we thought was important to incorporate in the video was appreciation for the first responders, as they are the ones dealing with this virus first hand. I added various pictures of our chief of police as well as the volunteer fire fighters and first aid. At the end of the video, my mom wanted there to be pictures of the happy times during our town. For this I decided to use pictures of our annual Spring Lake Five Mile Run as it is the one weekend each year where the whole town is completely gathered together supporting each other. I put this in with the idea of giving the residents something to looks forward to. Although we have missed a lot of time together, there will still come a point in time where things will indeed get back to normal. As many people have said during this pandemic, “tough times do not last, but tough people do”. After I was finished with the video my mom sent it to all the residents and it received a lot of good feedback which felt good as I put a lot of work into making it. This video was very fun and encouraging to make for me because I felt it was something not only that people would need, but would also enjoy. It was also hoped that by making this video it would encourage people to take time out of their day to thank the first responders because although, like I mentioned before, it is bad for everyone, it is much worse for them. I also just wanted to make a meme as part of the final project to shed a bit of laughter during these tough times. It was a simple meme, but something that I thought would be appropriate for times like these. Something like this has not happened before and I am sure everyone will remember these months for the rest of their lives. Hopefully everything will be back to normal within a few weeks and people can carry on with their lives and we can enjoy the year 2020 like we thought we would when it started.
