The song I decided to review was the “Toosie Slide” by Drake. This song was just recently released about a week and a half ago. Although the song does not feature too many feelings about the situation right now, after looking over carefully I was able to connect it to the feeling of today. First of all, the music video is all filmed inside of Drake’s home. This compares to how we are living today as nobody is allowed outside of their homes. If it was a normal time, Drake would be filming the music video from all around the world and not just specifically from his house so that was the first thing I was able to make a connection to. The second thing was the actual lyrics themselves. There is now an app Tiktok in the app store which has blown up during the quarantine. The app features many different videos, however most of them are dances that people can follow along to. Based on these lyrics, the song fits that app perfectly which has been a major part of quarantine for kids around the country. Overall, for these two main reasons I feel like this music video/song represents exactly what quarantine has been like for kids all across the United States.
