Scene Review

One scene that I wanted to review was the scene where Rey kills the Sith at the end of the Star Wars series. The whole scene is still currently unavailable however I was able to come across a video in which featured part of it. Before we get into the short clip I was able to find, I still wanted to review the whole scene. It starts with Rey on the floor unconscious after just being attacked brutally by the Sith. However, right before the scene takes place, Rey is told by Luke Skywalker’s ghost that all the jedi now live in her which becomes important during this scene. While Rey is unconscious, she begins to hear the voices of all the fallen jedis from previous movies. They are encouraging her to get back up and fight and use the words “Rise Rey” multiple times. Eventually the jedi inside of her power her to get back up on her feet and attract her saber to her using the force. This is then where the clip I was able to grab begins (see below). The Sith notices her rise and turns his focus to her rather than the incoming fleet because he knows she is the last of the jedi and is really the only one that has a chance to defeat him. The directors make the Sith very confident to start which makes the viewer question if Rey is going to have enough power to defeat him. Furthermore, when he begins his attack on Rey, she is noticeably weak and struggling to stand up and the viewer can hear her groaning as she is struggling to keep up with his powers. Then a moment later, the Sith mentions that he is all the sith which plays a very important role. Right as he says this, it seems as though Rey regains full strength and confidence as she is now fully reminded that she is all of the jedi and that this moment is her destiny. You then see all the jedi masters and their sabers appear behind Rey (not as clearly seen in this video as high-quality videos) as Rey uses the force to grab the second saber she brought with her. Right as she feels the saber hit her hand she then announces that she is indeed all of the jedi, and begins to turn the tide of the fight. Right as she says this and flips around her second saber you can clearly see a look of scared shock in the Sith’s eyes and realize it is the turning point. Eventually Rey is able to defeat the Sith and the clip ends there (however the scene continues). All of the sith were present at the time of the battle and once Rey strikes down the main Sith, the rest of them as well as their surroundings begin to crumble with him. This is a very important part of not only this scene but the whole Star Wars series as it finally signals the complete end of the Sith.
