For my movies review, I decided to do Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Although many reviewers did not like the movie, I thought that it was the best movie in the series. I liked how the movie went back to more of the original six movie storyline, however the graphics and effects were much better. I also think that the directors did a good job of clarifying a lot of the unknowns that left people wondering after the seventh and eighth movies. For instance, a lot of people were not happy after the seventh and eighth movies because they thought the main character Rey had too much power for just a ‘scavenger girl’. However, in this one we find out she is actually the furthest thing from a scavenger girl and instead she is the granddaughter of the Sith. The movie also featured a series of twists and turns that really kept you interested down the stretch as you were eager to see which side would come out victorious. Probably the biggest turn of events throughout the movie was when Ben Skywalker was turned back to the good side. After murdering his father, Han Solo, after it looked like he would turn good in a previous movie, fans thought that all hope was just about lost for Ben. As it turns out he would become a major force in overthrowing the emperor. The only critique that I really have about this movie would be how too many people would die, but then come back to life shortly after. For instance, Rey killed Ben in an epic fight scene in the middle of the water (seen below) only to feel remorse and heal his wounds to allow him to live on shortly after. Then, later in the movie, Ben was thrown off a cliff by the emperor and had no chance of surviving the fall, but then somehow manages to climb all the way back up and reappear at the end of the movie. Lastly, after killing the Sith, Rey becomes too weak because of the force she had to use in order to destroy him and collapses to her death. Sure enough, Ben Skywalker comes along after someone climbing out of the hole he was tossed into and revives her (also seen below). My feeling is that the directors should have either had one of both of them die for good, or to only be wounded. The fact that they were dead and came back to life goes against the core first six movies of the series. All in all, I thought the movie was very well done and was surprised to see how much backlash it ended up taking around the world.
