Deepfakes are becoming more and more of a problem in today’s day and age. Deepfakes are being used not to amuse people, but to harm others. For instance, many people are made out to say nasty things that they have never said. This diminishes how others view them as people. One example the video uses below is how a deepfake could be used on presidential candidates. The video then goes on to show a video of what looks like Obama to be cursing, but in reality was someone else cursing and his face and body cropped in.
Also with technology evolving today, Deepfakes are looking more realistic than ever. As seen in the pictures below, it is becoming harder and harder to actually tell the difference between the actual person in a video and a deepfake. Many are now saying it is a necessity to check the source of every video, especially on social media websites before immediately determining the credibility on it.
